I was drawn to Laughlin’s The Magnificent Spiral, Number Seven due to the image’s ability to offset the balance of the viewer. This photo gave me the feeling as though I would meet the coarse wooden floor located at the end of the stairwell. The repetition of lines and curvatures within the image gives the eye something to follow. Given that the image was shot from a one-point perspective draws the viewer in. This photograph includes many layers that are each framed by one another, making the depth of field great. This interior view, which resembles a nautilus shell, would have required a shutter speed most likely ranging from 30 to 125. When comparing my photos to Laughlin's I found similarities in our subject matter and style.
